This paper briefly introduces the application of FRP mould in ship model Yin and Yang mold making and pasting operation steps, for reference and exchange only.
Production process of male mold:
1: Model ship drawing

2: Make a ship's deck out of planks

3: Match with middle keel

4: Making keel with cardboard

Bonding

Stereotype

5: Filled with styrofoam

6: 100 mesh sandpaper for surface modification

7: Glass Fiber cloth Strengthening the surface with epoxy resin

8: Modification of mold surface with putty

9: Grinding the surface of putty with 100 mesh sandpaper

10: Spray easy grinding primer

Female mold making
1: Before making, make sure whether to split the mold or not
Because some hulls have an undercutting position, one mold can not be completed, and some parts are separated for the convenience of making. For example, this piece of hull can not be divided into modules. After the hull is finished, the unnecessary parts are bonded with cardboard, as shown in the following figure:

The paper board will be divided into two parts, one half of which will be cut on the other side. The boat is divided into three sections, which is much easier than just one piece.
2: Some shrinkage occurs during the hardening of unsaturated resins
If there is only one piece without parting, there will be no problem. If there is parting, there will be problems. Because the left and right sides of the shrinkage are not the same, if there is no positioning, there will be left and right asymmetric displacement. You can use the small cardboard with beveled edges as the positioning purpose. When the two pieces of mold after the concave and convex position, there will not be left and right mold waste position problem, with the bevel side small cardboard.

3: This is the hull with split board and bevel board

Reinforced cardboard

4: It is recommended to use polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or Demoulding wax Remove the film

5: Vinyl mold is recommended for gel coat preparation Gel coat

6: Hand paste gel coat, the recommended thickness is 0.8mm

7: After the gel coat is fully cured, hand paste glass fiber and resin

8: When the parting on one side solidifies, paste the other half

9: Demoulding after sufficient curing
